Stacey Boal

A multi-faceted musician, Stacey Boal teaches recorder, violin, and viola at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. During the summer of 2025, she retired from playing viola in the Victoria Symphony after a fruitful 49-year career. In addition, she has taught at the WCAMS summer camp and led recorder workshops in Victoria, Nanaimo, Sechelt, Kelowna, and Edmonton. Stacey has performed many recorder solos with the Victoria Symphony and Pacific Opera, and she also joined the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra for a Harry Potter concert.
Stacey was born in Revelstoke and attended high school in North Vancouver. She is a graduate of Carson Graham Secondary School and the UBC School of Music (BMus ’72). She has studied recorder with Martha Bixler, Kenneth Wollitz, Michel Piguet, and Judy Linsenberg.
Stacey is a founding member of the band A Great Noyse and the Ancient Music Society of Victoria. She has a lifelong love for playing in consorts and small ensembles. Currently, she leads an adult string orchestra, a recorder consort class, and a mixed ensemble of recorders, strings, and harpsichord. A children’s recorder class is also in the works. Stacey teaches online via Zoom, sharing her enthusiasm with a growing group of students.
