The Franco-Flemish school is a movement that developed from the 15th century in France and the Burgundian Netherlands. Of central importance, this school lasted from 1420 to 1633. Thanks to the invention of the musical printing press, the music of these innovative composers became known throughout Europe. The style of the Franco-Flemish school is characterized by the great development of polyphony, laying the foundations of modern harmony. This workshop will explore the work of several Franco-Flemish composers - Johannes Ciconia, Josquin des Prez, Tielman Susato - and the music published by Pierre Attaingnant, the first and main music publisher in France, in the 16th century.
