Deborah Jackson

Deborah Jackson began studying recorder and viola at a young age at the Victoria Conservatory of Music where she also began teaching recorder as a young teenager.

Deborah went on to receive her Bachelor of Music at McGill University, majoring in Music History although she played extensively in the Collegium and in ensembles on both recorder and baroque viola.  While at McGill, Deborah sat on a committee to help initiate a Bachelor programme in Baroque Performance.

Another year was spent studying the recorder with Marion Verbruggen at the Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands.

She has performed on recorder with such ensembles as the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, the Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal, the Toronto Consort and the Toronto Chamber Society.  Currently, Deborah freelances occasionally with local arts organizations

Although living in East Vancouver, Deborah teaches Core Music full-time at Cambridge Elementary school in Surrey, and gives private coaching on an occasional basis.
