Summer Baroque Academy for Instrumentalists
Victoria Conservatory of Music, Victoria, BC
July 12 - 20, 2019
This summer, for the first time, the Victoria Conservatory of Music, Victoria Baroque, and Early Music Vancouver (EMV) will be working together to produce a week long summer intensive training program in period instrument performance led by members of Victoria Baroque and the Pacific Baroque Orchestra. This course is aimed at players who already have experience playing on baroque instruments as well as those with no prior experience but who have a solid proficiency on their modern instrument equivalents and are interested in taking their first steps with period instruments. The programme welcomes advanced music students, professional musicians and advanced amateurs. Instruction is available for strings, woodwinds, and harpsichord. There are some baroque instruments and bows available for loan (inquiries can be sent to Soile Stratkauskas, course director at firstname.lastname@example.org).
The Baroque Academy is an exciting and low cost opportunity to immerse oneself in baroque instrument performance, and to expand one’s technical and stylistic understanding and skills in a focused and friendly environment. The course offers a generous amount of one-to-one instruction and small group and orchestral coaching by leading West Coast early music specialists.
