Music

When you have found items in the BCRS library you would like to own, listen to or obtain recordings, try these:

Prussin Music
- Music and Recorders, located on West Broadway
Northwest Music - on Main Street, a great place for accessories
Long & McQuade - find a store near you

Avondale Press - A local music publisher that sells recorder music as well as music by Canadian composers.
Courtly Music - A store in the Eastern U.S. that sells recorders and fantastic sheet music at reasonable prices. Great service, I highly recommend them.
Unicorn Music New and used recorders for sale, fantastic selection. Also, they have photos of recorders from the baroque (many are in museums).
Harmer Music - Our very own Dan Harmer says “For the past several years I have produced music for groups with whom I play. I decided I would make this music available to others.” Beautiful, enjoy!
Music Viva - free recorder sheet music. Check out the selection from Jacob van Eyck.
International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP) - listen to the music and download the scores. The music which was originally in the Werner Icking Music Archive and in the Saers Recorder Music Catalogue has been transferred to this site. Both the WIMA and Saers sites were maintained by Christian Mundrop. Listings are available of Music formerly on WIMA, and of Music for recorders formerly on the Saers Site.
Brian's Music Page - Lots of Renaissance music files.
Magnatune.com - a record label with some great Early Music selections. Download music to burn on your own CD.
Jacob van Eyck - Information on this famous composer.
Early Music Online   Some 300 volumes of printed music from the 16th century held by the British Library have been digitised and are freely available.  These volumes contain approximately 10,000 musical compositions, which have been individually indexed, from Italy, Germany, France and England.
Marois Music
Graded recorder repertoire
As a composer and publisher for elementary classroom material, I would like to invite you to check my collection of recorder material.  I am currently on the faculty at Capilano University in the Jazz Studies program and have been involved wtih music for elementary and seconday students including the Orff program for 30 years.

The collections involve two or three recorder parts with piano accompaniment. They can be performed at the beginning with the soprano parts only, and the alto part can be added at a later stage. The collection called "7 colors of the rainbow" involves soprano and alto recorders with some Orff instruments (Glock, xylophones and metallophones) and piano. All seven melodies for soprano are
built on fives notes (G-A-B-C-D) and all melodies on the alto are built on (C-D-E-F#-G). The Orff parts are using simple repetitive motifs built on two-three notes.
I am currently adding more items every week.  Please check at: http://maroismusic.com/
