Pacific Baroque Festival 2018 celebrates the 350th anniversary of François Couperin "le Grand", whose profound influence transformed French music towards the end of Louis XIV’s reign.

Workshops on the Baroque Recorder Repertoire
A series of workshops, initially at the Intermediate level, with Harpsichord accompaniment.
Focus: Baroque performance style, including ornamentation, articulation, phrasing, temperament and other elements of musicianship.
Repertoire: Baroque sonata repertoire for alto (treble) recorder, with harpsichord.
Format: two or more hour-long rehearsals, daytime or evenings, at least one session with harpsichord accompaniment.
Fees: $20/$35 per hour

Alan Thrasher trained in the Baroque (and earlier) repertoire, with La Noue Davenport and others in New York, and has been certified by the American Recorder Society. He is Professor Emeritus of Music at UBC .
