Adult recorder players (sporano, Alto, Tenor & bass) interested in playing with others for mutual challenge and fun, are invited to join a newly formed recorder group meeting in Yaletown on a bi-weekly basis. The group explores a wide variety of music from Baroque and Renaissance folk tunes to modern arrangements. Beginner/Intermediate to Advanced/Intermediate level with good sight-reading. Wanted - New (March 2011)
Amateur musicians to play for dancers in the English Country Dance tradition of Jane Austen's era. (Think music of Purcell, Handel, and especially the collections of John Playford.) 32 bar simple written melodies, lovely opportunities for chamber music style improvization and harmony. Ability to play with consistent tempo and pitch is important. Open stage performance for approximately 30 very appreciative dancers about once a month, September to June at the Billy Bishop Legion Hall, Kits Point, Vancouver.
